Smart 5-Hole Probes
A 5-hole probe with onboard processing, reporting velocity, flow angles, pressure and temperature over USB.
Flow Angle and Velocity Without a Separate DAQ
A smart 5-hole probe combines a multi-hole sensing head with onboard data processing. The probe reports static pressure, total pressure, velocity, flow angles and temperature in engineering units over USB, so a separate data acquisition system is not required to get a result.
Probes are compact and light enough for lab and field use. Straight and L-shaped stems are available, with conical or spherical tips, so the head can be placed where the flow is rather than where the hardware allows.

More Than a Probe Supplier
K-Tec Systems manufactures the sensing and cabling around the probe in Ferndale, Michigan, so one U.S. team can support the whole measurement chain, from thermocouples and RTDs to wire harnesses.
Manufactured and supported in the U.S.
K-Tec Systems builds custom thermocouples, RTDs, wire harnesses and test stands at our Ferndale, Michigan, facility. The probe, the temperature sensing and the cabling can be specified together, with one U.S. team behind the order.
Flow and temperature at the same point
K-Tec thermocouples and RTDs can be integrated into compatible probe designs, so total pressure and temperature are measured at the same location.

Smart 5-Hole Probes: Frequently Asked Questions
What does a smart probe do that a standard 5-hole probe does not?
A standard 5-hole probe delivers pressures that you convert to flow angle and velocity. A smart probe processes the signals onboard and outputs the result directly in engineering units.
How is it connected?
Over USB, plug and play. No separate pressure scanner or data acquisition system is needed for the probe's own measurements.
What tip and stem options are available?
Conical or spherical tips of 3 to 5 mm diameter, on straight or L-shaped stems up to 280 mm, with custom lengths available.
What accuracy and operating range apply?
These depend on the configuration and are confirmed at quotation. Our team can review your speed, angle and temperature requirements.
